Most people are not aware that a woman's gastrointestinal health tract differs from a man's.
Women are five times as likely to develop irritable bowel syndrome and can also experience a variety of digestive problems during pregnancy.

Over 250,000 women in Lancaster County now have a choice in digestive healthcare. LGI's Center for Women's Digestive Health is the only one of its kind in South Central Pennsylvania.

Dr. Sadiya Cheshty, in collaboration with an experienced mixed-gender team of gastroenterologists, GI nurse practitioners and a physician assistant, creates a warm and nurturing environment where every patient can be heard.

Sensitive. Our providers understand that a woman faces many different healthcare dilemmas. Our Center is committed to helping you overcome the challenge of a digestive disorder. We provide compassionate outreach to those who face hard-to-talk-about digestive problems.

Focused. Under the direction of highly-skilled gastroenterologists, the Center's professionals hold a weekly clinic to treat women who struggle with digestive disorders. Conditions we treat include:

• Colon Cancer detection - #3 cancer in women

The center also provides access to colonoscopies performed by any of our eight gastroenterologists.

We maintain strong referral relationships with nearby centers to provide gastrointestinal motility studies for our patients as needed. Nutritional and psychosocial support referrals complement our comprehensive care.

Listening. It is important to be heard. Our extended appointments give you time to express your concerns in an unrushed setting. Our providers will thoughtfully listen and dedicate the time required for a thorough evaluation. We understand that you must be heard before we can begin to heal.
